This page spotlights Big Steve McGranahan, Captain of Crush
and now Red Nail Breaker. As far as Steve knows he is the first person to break the
Ironmind Red steel bar, 5/16"x7" of tough steel.
Shown to the right is the result of the break, with a bent red
below. As far as I know Steve was also the first to bend a
Red bar in competition last year, although at that time he was not
finishing them off yet.

Ironmind Red steel bars-Broken and bent |

Here's Steve bending a
big piece of steel. The bar is 3/4" thick and either
4-foot or 3-foot 8-inches. When I look at this picture I
agree with Steve that 1" thick will fall soon, never has
3/4" steel looked so small as when being "reconfigured"
by Big Steve. |

Here's Steve preparing to put the hurt on a deck of
cards. Steve has actually ripped two decks of cards
together, so you can image that this single deck doesn't stand a
chance! For fans of strength and muscle, check out the lower
portion of his left forearm, that's some serious ripping, bending
muscle.

This picture
shows a thick Horseshoe twisted around by Big Steve. Older,
used horseshoes can sometimes be more difficult to bend than new
ones because the steel becomes hardened on the impact of the
horse's hooves. If they are overused, old or rusty they
usually become weaker. Sometimes when you lay into a
horseshoe to bend it you never know what you have in terms of
strength. This particular shoe looks fairly stout and is a
"rim" shoe (note the channel on the left top
twine). |

| If you happen to
meet Steve and he asks if you can borrow a wrench or a pair of
pliers you might want to reconsider. Unlike a Magician who
might give you back your twenty after it has been
"ripped" any tool Steve returns will probably look like
the ones on the right. In order to break the dropped forged
pliers Steve put a bolt between the teeth and then squeezed.
They snapped with a sound almost like a gunshot. The wrench is a
5/8" and 11/16" Craftsmen wrench. |

Finally we have a rolled up frying pan,
here again you may want to think twice if Big Steve asks if he can
cook a meal at your house.
